About the club

The Wairarapa Model Aero Club is a small club of about 36 members. Its aim is primarily to enjoy aeromodelling and to provide the facilities and means for its members to have fun with the sport in a safe and controlled environment. We lease an area at Masterton’s Hood Aerodrome and club days on Sunday and Thursday mornings attract a good following.

The Wairarapa Model Aero Club is affiliated to the New Zealand Model Aeronautical Association, the national body for the sport in the country, and abides by its regulations. We also help out with hosting the annual NZMAA National Championships which are held in the Wairarapa three out of every four years.

Several club members are approved NZMAA instructors and are more than happy to share their expertise and advice with new members.
